Basically the thing is, they usually use DNS (something like OpenDNS) or proxy to filter. You've to setup your connection use their proxy and gateway. While gateway does the job of DNS lookups through their server, redirecting to an error page if the page is being filtered.

This trick won't work, if they already use OpenDNS (Use Google DNS then ), also you will have to disable the proxy.

No, in most cases you need to find a *command* or *library* which happen to be missing from your path because they're installed in a non-standard location, which you'll then need to add to your path.
I've never in my 10 years of using Linux had any need to search my home directory for stuff. Why would you do this? Don't you know where *you* put stuff? Pictures are in pictures, documents are in documents, downloads are in downloads, music is in music, video is in video... and all the programs and libraries you use to work on those files are _everywhere else_ on the system.
It's so much more likely that you won't know where an administrator, co-administrator, or automatic installer put stuff.

yup. For those who aren't comfortable with the terminal and have Gnome running on the GNU's you can do it on the UI as stated below

Hit the directory with the mouse pointer, then CTRL + H, all your hiden files and folders show up with a "." preceding the file name or folder name. to hide files, right-click>rename and precede the file name or folder name with a "."

If you have the real desire to learn Linux and master it, you should use Arch Linux. But yeah for a newbie it might be difficult.

A new user should get experienced with some other Linux like Fedora / Ubuntu and then move to Arch Linux else its going to be a tough time for him/her.

much to my horror I went to my trash bin and at the top it shows that you are in the TRASH bin and it ask do you want to delete- -all-none-unread-read starred & unstarred, so I select all, never in my wildest freams did I think it would delete EVERY SINGLE LABEL AND FILE IN MY GMAIL ACCOUNT, I don't understand this, when you are in Trash, or sent and you pick to delete "all" then I would think it would only delete the emails from that file and not eve4ry single friggin email. This is a crazy way to do things. I lost tons of important stuff, I am a little bit cheesed off with gmail, Has anybody else had this happen to them.

try to upgrade XP using win7 setup disk inside XP itself. It is possible that (if M$ thought to be user-friendly to old XP users) Win7 setup disk will use XP's convert utility. Even that doesn't work, look out on google for some third party converters.

You failed to mention that "opening" means that the formatting is totally messed up and all the functionality (like pie chart creation out of numbers) is lost.
Sharing of a project document with a person using windows and the same document is NOT possible. There is no format-compatibility.

You can open the document but it won't get displayed as it should.

In this context both the devices are referred to as multi functional devices.
If you refer to the iPhone as an iPod with phone, then Nokia can also be called an mp3 player with phone owing to the 32GB of storage space + 16 GB Optional addition storage. Thus, this can be a comparison b/w 2 mp3's w/phone.
